Research and Product Design for Local Cafe

Context: Partnered with a thriving local Coffee Shop, aiming to bring more customer satisfaction

Objective: Boost client retention by enhancing the cafe's user experience and boosting conversion rates.

Solution: Developed an intuitive points system to reward the customers for their loyalty

Outcome: Yielded in a 6.7% increase in foot traffic & 3.2% increase in revenue, which demonstrated a positive impact on both customer engagement and financial performance

Role: Research, Analysis, Project Development

Duration: 4 weeks

Problem

The coffee shop’s foot traffic is constantly fluctuating.

Due to safety reasons the owner does not want to publicize the coffee shop

on digital platforms which makes it harder to attract customers.

Designs

As a first step, I considered developing a loyalty program to win back customers. This permits the client to maintain their privacy while enabling the customers to receive bonus rewards for their frequent visits.

Vision

Create a points system that will increase customer loyalty,

improve the cafe's customer engagement, and keep it competitive with other cafes.

Aesthetics

Through researching the market and other competitors with loyalty programs, I’ve drafted a user-friendly and captivating display with an emphasis of a modern layout.

No Tip Culture

Compared to the Western culture, there is a well-established "no-tip" culture in Korea. The loyalty program follows this practice by having the system return to the home screen after rewarding points.

Physical Copy

To target consumers who struggle to make adjustments to the rapid development of technology, I’ve created a stamp card to encourage their stay as a member of the loyalty program.

Free Rewards

For every drink a customer purchases, they obtain one point. Upon receiving 10 points, customers can redeem their points to gain a free drink. Points that get saved up will never expire! This feature allows the customer to be rewarded for having multiple visits.

Visibility

Visual advertising helped in raising awareness of the business. It was an effective marketing tool to capture the attention of potential customers. This helped display essential messages such as the business name, hours of operation, and promotions, creating a visual connection between the business and its surroundings.
